Falken 452 are a fav, very reasonable on price and last very well. I am trying some Falken ZE512 for the winter to see how they go.
The Prada Spec 2's also lasted very well but will not fill you full of confidence in the wet, but are better than many, as they are lacking in a major tread pattern.

I had Toyo T1R's, not sure how long they lasted though. I'm going for Falken 452's next. The are a bit soft on the shoulders, but are alot cheaper than the Toyo's.

I've tried most.
Would never touch Toyo's ever again, found they took ages to be scub in, didn't like standing water and wore fast. We okay in the dry. wouldn't buy again
Goodyear GSD3's, First three sets were awesume in all conditions and wore well but the last set was ****, seemed they have changed were they are made. Getting old hat and would try there replacement's instead
Dunlop Sp sport Maxx
A very good tyre, outstanding in all conditions including the snow and wore very well. would have another set anyday, only bought the Conti as I had a fantastic deal.
Conti Sport Contact 3, Have these at the moment and are by far the best tyre I've had.
Never tried the Falkens but a alot of people on here recommend them but not sure if they have tried and compared these to either Dunlop's or Conti's

Ones I've liked...
1) Eagle F1 GSD3s - loved them
2) BF Goodrich g-Force Profilers - damn near as good as the F1s but 2/3rds the price
3) Kumho Ecsta SPTs - very good tyre, especially for the price
4) Nokian WR G2s - awesome winter rubber
5) Dunlop SP Sport - admittedly only driven these on the other half's X3, but I quite like them
Ones I've disliked...
1) Toyo T1-Rs - wear rate was OK for me but didn't like them in the wet and sidewalls were far too soft
2) Pirelli P-Zero Rosso - good in the dry, but take far too long to get heat into them in the wet and useless in the snow
2) Run(a)way Enduro 916 - were fitted to my current car when I got it, lasted a month before they were binned (absolutely leathal!)
3) Nankang NS1 - were fitted to my first WRX when I got it, were actually OK(ish) but a bit touch and go if pushed hard in the wet. If I absolutely had to get budget tyres and couldn't afford anything better, I would go for them over other budget brands
Ones I'm getting next....
1) Conti Sport Contact 3 - heard great things about them. Also drove a Clio RS200 Cup round the 'Ring with them fitted and was very impressed with them in the dry and on a couple of wet and greasy laps.
Might have to wait for next year though as the Nokians will be on until ~April and the BFGs are steadfastly refusing to wear quickly enough to be dead before next winter (not that I'm really complaining as I'm very happy with those too ;o)

Had Bridgestone Potenza's when i was running 18's, ****ing very expensive and didnt seem to last very long at all.
Have run Toyo T1R's on 17's for the past 3 years, i do like the tyres myself, ok standing water you have to be a bit careful (but don't you always?unless your running BF Goodrich Mud Terrains!!), in general welsh wet weather i find them fine though, dry roads i think they are brillant and are not even that baad on the snow imho.
Some might say they wear rather quickly, i put it down to my driving as i don't drive the car very much, and when i do, it does get a bit of a hiding. At the end of the day, imho, it is an AWD vehicle and a full set will never last as long as on a 2wd car.
I will probably re-new in the next couple of weeks for a set of Toyo's, but if prices have gone up and the Falkens are priced sensibly, i will defiantely give them a chance, or the Conti's for that matter.
Good luck with your search.

Another vote for Falken FK452's. I am on my 4th set now and I will continue to use them. I can only compare to the original bridgestones but the falkens are far better all round. They are great in the wet and wonderful in the dry and I always get 10k plus out of them.
Last set I bought were £75 a corner fitted from a garage in Pontypridd, bargain!!

Sure
These are an expensive tyre, let's get that said to start with. So what do you get for your extra money?
1) RAZOR SHARP turn-in: The carcass and tread block are firm, very firm (not to say the actual rubber is hard) and this is translated to input response. No comparison to say a T1R which next to this is a pile of mush
2) HUGE grip levels: wet & dry, simply massive
3) Safely explorable limit: you get warning when the limit is approaching, and then you get a fairly wide 'band' so no sudden letting go. This is a rare occurance as really there's little need to go this close to the edge.
I live near Stourbridge and love nothing better than hooning sessiond around Shropshire's finest B-roads, or the Welsh borders. The AD08's seem very well suited for the Impreza, as well as these type of roads
Here's some more from a previous thread I posted
And here's what NASIOC folk have to say
I would add the only other tyre (even bigger money though) which will equal/better the Yoko is the Pilot Sport

Cheers for the detailed reply.
Thems do sound the bizz, ill have a look later on, on the links you posted.
Will be worth a try, if i can get some at a sensible price. As i haven't read the links yet (and it might well say in them,) how many miles would a set of these roughly do in 'normal' driving mode, with a bit of heavy foot thrown in?
Thanks
