2004 STI Engine, How strong?
What are these like for reliability? If all goes to plan my next car (still a classic) will have one of these in it with a Classic STI box. Its running just over 300bhp. Wondering if its worth the investment.

It'll be a SCDB with AVCS heads! The engines will handle 400bhp all day long, a few are running 450bhp with no dramas bit it's who you speak to the 2005 on engines are mean to be the better of the Newage ones (Non JDM) as they have the stronger crank!
Hope some of this helps Calvin

They drop newage engines in classics a lot in the states Calivin, there's a lot of info on NASIOC about this. I would think it would need to be the package personally and that would need to be engine, gearbox plus not to overlook you would need the ecu from the donor car as well overwise your looking at a grand on a simtec or similar and not to forget brakes as classic 4 pot would be no good with that so this is not a cheap mod in my eyes unless you get a written off newage car where all the bits are good to swap.

My guess would be it's a Newage STI shortmotor with classic heads and ECU, its a major job to fit a full newage STI engine as i think u would need the newage STI ECU and wiring loom to run the AVCS heads...
They do it in the US, but thats becuse they didnt get turbo'd classics in the US.
