Welcome to the money pit that is Subaru Ownership.

Dan get some pics up as someone may know the car.

Where did you get it from?

When you say "a bit flat", is this when you accelerate?

What of mileage is on the car and does it have any mods?

We need a bit more info to help out mate

There are a few Jacks, Turks and Neefites local to you and they are having a meet at the Liberty Stadium on the 6th March. Pop along and press some flesh.

Uncle Cannon Fodder is probably your man with his Data Monitor equipment. Plug in and find out.

Fitting a FMIC is a bit pointless unless you've gone for a turbo, injectors and big power upgrade as you'll get more turbo lag. If the engine is standard then your only getting 215BHP.

The standard air box can handle 400+bhp and the standard turbo about 300bhp before it starts to get near it's limit. Also, at that bhp the gearbox and clutch would need attention.

Depending on what you drove before it may well feel a bit flat.

It could well be the turbo lag due to the FMIC. The Classic is much lighter and a more "raw" experience and if it's a Jap Import is bigger on BHP out of the box than a UK Car.

That's why most people really want an STI Newage

Erm, was it like this on the pre-sale test drive

My guess is extra lag from the fmic.

Post a full spec of the car and state if it's been mapped and who by & we can chip in with some useful pointers. Just swapping parts for the sake of it will cost you £'s before you need to mate.

I've got a known good maf here (also got a 2001 bugeye) so you can borrow it to diagnose if needed. I've also got a scangauge II and Torque android application for reading/clearing fault codes (is the Cell light illuminated on the dash?)

Welcome, I can plug in my laptop and have a look at your fault memory and we can do a road test and see if any abnormal readings present themselves.

If your going to the Swansea meet on the 6th of March then I can have a look then.

If you were referring to my car dude is an X Reg minor detail lol

When you say flat mate its as if one minute its not holding boost but then next the car pulls really well. I've been in it and thats how it felt to me.

First thing I would do is bin the HKS induction kit. They are rubbish. well known to kill mafs due to the crap fitlers they use. Just ask bigdaz how many Mafs he got through with that pile of crap fitted (It got through 4 in one weekend alone!!!!). Swap it for a cotton filter kind (K&N etc).

It does sound like the maf, Also unless it's been mapped this could be your problem and your be living on borrowed time as the newage don't like to be tinkered with without being remapped.

I wouldn't of thought the FMIC would cause what your talking about, with regards to the lag, you wouldn't notice the extra half a second it takes from pressing the throttle to the car picking up from the passanger seat. This sounds like something else. As said my money would be on the MAF, leaking intercooler pipe work or a blowing exhaust/headers.

whats the boost set to on the controller??? has this been set to low(don't go cranking it up though)

If the MAF is FUBAR then Deltadash will see the voltages all over the place I believe.

A road test will help to identify it anyway.

What about the old test of unplugging the Maf when engine running, if it cuts out it's OK if it still runs then the Maf is FUBAR ??????????????

That test is a load of cr@p Simon as it's not always conclusive, far better to do a real time voltage check on the MAF while it's on the car on a road test.
