Battery draining
Got the AA out today as my battery was dead.
I haven't driven it for two days (quite a new battery too) AA bloke said there was 5 amps going out when it's off, so after time it will drain. He checked the obvious suspects (radio, alarm, interior lights etc but came up with no real diagnosis.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hello,Lisa
One of my Evo's started doing this and it was the tracker that was the culprit.
The tracker battery had died,so it was taking a charge from the battery, causing it to drain, every few days.
If you don't have a tracker,ignore this!!

Second the suggestion of a tracker. I removed the tracker from my dad's BMW after he went through several batteries. The tracker was fitted ages ago and as the car was old and the subscription had long passed, I removed it. Problem went away.

i had this with my classic, after a lot of swearing and trying differnt things, i found that the live wire to the alternator had become corroded in the main loom which ran in plasitc sheathing under the battery and then goes to the wing, (in the area pretty much behind the passenger headlight),there were a load of bullet elecric connectors and the said alternator wire had corroded form its connector.it must have been arcing and draining batt overnight. replaced the connector and wire has been fine ever since!!!not saying this is your prob but its what i found with my jap wrx!hope this helps

forgot to say the way i found out was i cut the live to the alternator (near the green connector) and made a 'temporary'(which ended up for about 6 months)connection directly back to the battery. cured the problem but if left on overnight obviously drained.so than when i had chance i done as i said above and found the culprit! gppd luck anyway hope u sort it,nowt worse than having no batt!!

. Ryan is correct. The newage cars have a "smart" alternator that will only charge the battery when the lights are turned on.
small suggestion.... can we not disclose the locations of trackers of a public forum
i would go with the smart altanator thing, have you been using the car in the day with aircon on and no night driving? if so, drive around for a couple of days with your side lights on.

yes but she said there was 5 amps draining when the car was off which is the problem not the battery getting recharged agree about the tracker location but it is already well documented on here and other sites think thats a lost battle tbh
