Default Need to change my oil - anyone recommend a good garage

Hi

Car needs its oil changing in the next month or so. Can anyone recommend a good garage who knows their way around a subaru engine in the cardiff, Bridgend or Rhondda Cynon Taff area.

Can't do it myself and my local garage I used for my old Ford very rarely work on impreza's so not sure I trust them to do the job right.

Thanks in advance guys

TBH if a garage cant change the oil in a scooby they are no garage!!

Providing they have a ramp and follow the normal oil change rules pre fill filter etc then its not rocket science.

Your choice of oil is more important and make sure it an OEM filter.

A few guys on here are handy with the spanners and may offer there services if you ask nicley

I'm a bit too far west for you, but there are plenty of people closer to you who can help.

Would be great if somebody would offer to change my oil for me, obviously don't expect it done for free. Could do with being shown how to do it mind you so in the future I can then attempt to do it myself

Am i right in thinking that i should use 5W -40 fully synthetic oil in a MY99 Turbo 2000?

There you go mate, probably one of the better deals around

http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/part...en=&searchKey=

As Kev said, you should be able to trust any garage to do a straight oil change and shouldnt really cost much more than 30 min labour

I've always used 15-50 in my cars. either Mutol V300 or Fuchs Silkolean pro R15-50 not cheap but you ain't getting any better than that.

I'm a firm believer of using the best oil you can afford. My old blue one was abused everytime I got in it and it never used a drop of oil. I never had to top it up. It had 129K on the clock When I sold it including a couple of track days and was going strong, I think the engine is still going

And as said, Always make sure the filter in genuine and not a pattern part.

I have had work carried out by Dave Coe and I always found his work fairly priced and never had any problems.

Another member did have a 'few' problems with an engine rebuild carried out by Dave but he did stand by his repairs and put right what went wrong.

Had my wheel alignment done there a couple weeks ago and lets just say he took the **** and charged for a job he really didn't do properly. Also dylan went down there for a bottom pulley and he tried selling him the wrong one as he didnt know there were different types. I suppose he can't do anything wrong with an oil change can he

Thanks for all the advice guys

All sorted now, Reason I don't really trust my local garage is that they messed up a service on my old car. They let a new apprentice do a full service without supervision and they put on the wrong oil filter and gapped the spark plugs wrongly causing the car to run rough and misfire.

The guy promised me that he would personally do the oil change on the scooby whilst I wait and I can supply my own parts so I've decided to give them a second chance.

Will keep the other garage's mentioned in mind for future reference.
