Scoob damaged already
I left the house earlier and headed up the dual carriagway when a stone the size of a half house brick flew out from between the wheels of wagon and bounced off my bonnet and into my windscreen. The bonnet is scratched about 3 inchs long with a shallow dent just up above the scoop and to the left of car. The screen has a spider web crack that takes up the whole passenger side.
I flagged down the wagon and the guy accepted responsibility.
I phoned insurers and arranged for autoglass to come and fix the windscreen which will be next week.
I phoned the company who owned the wagon and they asked for quotes for the damge to the bonnet which came back at approx £360. Each garage said that they would need to spray both wings aswell as the bonet to blend the paint.
The dent isn't terrible and will look better when touched up som.
Psychologically I can live with the dent but would struggle to live with the car after having so much repsrayed. I told my insurers this too so they suggested I negotiate a settlement without them getting involved.
I phoned the truck company back and told them my thoughts so they agreed to give me a cash settlement which I have arranged to pick up tomorrow.
Fair play the truck company have been good about it and agreed to settle without question but I just cant beleive my luck. I only bought the car 6 days ago.
I cant live with so many panels being resprayed and not being factory standard.I'll just touch up the scratches.
I broke the windscreen on my first car, 2 BMW's and now both Scooby's.
I'll post a pic later.

Not good to hear mate glad the truck company took full responsibility though! tbh as long as the paint is a good match I would get the respray done, if you ain't happy with it don't pay!

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car, at least they have admitted liability - which is rare these days.
PM Scooby401 (Jarvis) on here or if you PM me I can let you have his mobile, he runs the bodyshop in Lee & Turner, Bridgend.

they dont put colour on all the wings just a bit and laquer them all, it just to makesure the colour is good match as the bonnet is a big visible area and as you look at it may see diff colour with the top of the wings. When i worked in a body shop we always use to do the bumper aswell, tbh take it to a good garage and it will prob be better than factory finish as they dont seem to spend much time flat and polishing as a garage can. You would also be suprised how many cars have theyre front ends painted by garages these days before selling them even complete resprays, so id be suprised if all your paint is original mate. Basicaly i would take it to a tidy garage and get it done.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys.
I've decided to live with it. Its not terrible and isnt immediately apparent either.
I just know I wont live with it once its been reprayed. I know I seem silly.
I'll get some pics up later. I forgot last night.
Once the glass is replaced I'll feel better. Autoglass cant come out till 30th April.
Oh well the car is tucked up nicely in the garage for now.

The truck company paid me out yesterday in cash.
I have cleaned up the bonnet and its looking alot better. Alot of the scrapes seemed to be on the surface of the laquer and wiped off thankfully. I'll see how it looks once I've added a layer of paint to the scratches.
I can get between the upper skin of bonnet and the structure to push the dent out. Its very shallow so should be ok.
A second hand bonnet is a thought Ian. I hadn't thought of that.
I'll see how it goes with the scratches first

After a tidy up of the damage area its barely visible Rich. I'm going to apply a few layers of touch up paint to the scratches.
I'll post a pic (i Keep forgetting) and you'll see what I mean.
A few people who initially said spray it now agree that it really is little point.
Its been a pain Rich I admit but it could have been alot worse.
I have added a lip spoiler, some black 18" and despoiler it now. It looks like a different car.
