Mmmmm Dont know if id fancy someone attacking my car with sandpaper. Resulats are amazing though Im having mine detailed ready for the next show season
When i paint a car/panel before it goes back to the customer it goes back in to the workshop to be de-nibbed and mopped, if for some reason i have to re-finish the paintwork this is how i do it, wet sand intire panel and buff back up with different level compounds and polish, they do look nice tho
I am having the S202 detailed by Eclipse in the spring, I wonder if Peter can carry out wet sand detailing as the results on black are stunning.
I'd say no Ty, if yours is anything like a spec-c there probably wont be much paint on it, obviously Peter would do a paint depth check first but i would'nt chance it
Dumb question - is the orange peel in the colour coat or the clear coat? I would have thought wet sanding would run the risk of removing the clear coat?
I ask as my (replacement) bootlid has orange peel, and I would love to get rid of it. I'm happy to wet sand it if I'm not going to b*gg*r up the clearcoat!

The orange peel efect should be in the clear coat/top coat, the base coat should lay perfectly flat, but depending on the paint prosess what looks like orange peel could be a poor aplication of a wet on wet or non-sand primer coat

hi ty mate , once ive had a good look at the car and taken thickness readings , depending on how bad the condition is and what the readings say will determine if wet sanding is viable , i remember when we met at the last stadium meet you said the paint might be thinner on this car , so we will see and take it from there, if its just swirls then wet sanding will not be required , as it will remove to much CC , which is at the end of the day is the paints protection from the elements , so the object is to remove as little as possible to get the desired results.
talking about orange peel , can be a pita , did a few cars recently where it wasnt in the laquer , but visible in certain light , the grey renault V6 that i posted in the other thread was exactly that .
