If there's one thing you do next weekend....
Hi Chaps,
Been out under the car all week (well it feels like it!) sorting the brakes out. This turned into cleaning the underneath as well etc etc...
Anyway, back to the title. If there's one thing you do next time, make sure it's checking out your fuel filler pipe.
I like to keep my arches quite clean and though all would be OK underneath that plastic...but oh no!
Apologies, the pictures a bit p!ssed.
I'm hoping it's all surface rust but what a shock!
A couple of other nasty looking areas, but should all be surface rust...

Not sure about the filler pipe, but you could blast and powercoat the other parts. I recently stripped the wishbones, etc off a mates car and powdercoated them. Wasn't too expensive either.

I had the same on my Bugeye, there should be a plastic cover over the fuel pipes but the fixings rot and it falls off eventually.
I bought a new cover and fixed it on with cable ties, it lasted the 3 years I had the car. Definately worth doing as apparently a rotting fuel pipe is quite common.

Mine even had the plastic cover!
It was crazy, full of dirt, I was pulling handfuls of the stuff out!
How easy is the pipe to change? I suppose, drain the tank. Remove. Sort out. Refit?
