Time Has Come!
Right guys im missing my scooby to much now i've managed to last nearly 6 months with it off the road. Im looking to get it back on the road in time for the Elan Valley Meet. I'd like to give the car a good full service to make sure its running smooth.
The car is an 'X' Reg Classic Turbo 2000
Im after some advice on :-
Timing Belt Kits
Brake Pads
Spark Plugs
Just wondering what you guys could recommend and where to pick these items up for the best price? Im not wanting to cut corners but to get the best price
I will obviously be doing the regular Oil and Engine Coolant Change, I tend to use 'Castrol Edge 10-60'.
Any advice would be greatful thanks guys, i know i've put a few points down that i'll service but if there is anything else you guys think i should maybe service please let me know.
Thanks Ryan.

NGK PFR7b's for the spark plugs, easily picked up from the local motor factor. I use Mintex brake pads front, kevlar pads rear. Probably worth changing the fuel filter if you've never done it before, looks easy enough to do. Would defo stick with a genuine Subaru timing belt.

As Taylor said stick with genuine subaru for the timing belt kit, NGK PFR6B's will be fine for standard to mildly modified cars and cheaper than the 7B's
Most people go for Ferrodo DS2500 / Mintex / Padig pads, just avoid EBC IMO.

cheers for the replys, another quick question if I may. Looking at all these kits they come with so many different parts, could someone please give me a breakdown of what is included or should be, So far the kits seem to contain :-
2 x Plain Idler
1 x Toothed Idler
1 x Auto Tensioner
1 x Small Idler
1 x Timing Belt
How easy is this to do yourself, im quite handy with a spanner and done all the other work on the car so far. Are there any major risks involved?

i have made one and welded it up so if you want to go at it your self you can have a lend fella
don't go for cheap tensioners or belt and get the real deal and you know your right then
also if you do it your self watch the cam wheels stay in the right place as the 2 wheels on the one side will be sprung ready to spin

Hi Ryan, a little tip if you are have a crack at the timing belt. Get two mole grips and clamp the cam pulleys together on each side. But, be careful not to clamp them to tight and crack the cams. And Hawky at RJ will sort out the plug for you
