Default Battery advice needed

Haven't driven the car for two weeks and on Friday night the alarm started going crazy (i assumed the battery had gone flat) Put the battery on charge (on the car) on Sunday night and had a few chirps from the alarm (so it was the battery) But after 4 hours it was still dead. Do you think that it's run so flat that the battery has had it? Would a longer trickle charge be worth trying or am i looking at a new battery?

Cheers, Phil.

Is it the original battery Phil ? have you power near the car all the time as I always use a trickle charger on mine it keeps the battery full and is designed to be used 365 days a year.

Not sure whether it's the original battery (it was on it when i bought it) but if i had to guess i'd say it's not the original. Car's kept on the drive, so it's not practical to keep her on charge all the time as i don't like leaving the window open with the extension lead coming through while i'm at work. Need to use the car tomorrow night and don't particularly want to shell out for a new battery as i'm tight as a duck's a**e

If the battery is stone dead it might take a fair time to charge ie at least overnight, batteries dont like being constantly discharged it kills them in the end so as Si said if possible a Ctek or similar is the way forward if you dont use the car much.
You could always whip it off and get it tested most places will do it for free worth a try

A 20 hour trickle charge and she's as good as new! MOT'd and taxed today and just got back from a nice long drive on the twisties. Nothing better than a long drive in the winter sunshine. Happy days
