Default MAF SENSOR AGAIN

Just done 2000 miles after full rebuild & new maf sensor fitted.
In traffic jam yesterdar at rally day and car stalled a few times and wouldn't tick over, also revs started jumping about eratically.
Parked up shortly afterwards. When I started it to come home all fine.
On arriving home, linked up to Deltadash, low and behold, in historical fault code memory , code 23 mass air flow sensor circuit. listed.
My question is surely after 2000 miles and about 3 months, it should not have gone.
Anyone out there had a similar problem over such a short time. I'd be interested to know.

No induction Kit, all standard
Ordered 2 MAF's this morning. Got some good advise off the RA web site regarding changing the whole air flow system. Unfortunately can't act on advise as remap Oct 3rd and won't have time. Looks like I might be using MAF's until Andy is down next time.
Must say though, so glad I bought Deltadash. Instant diagnosis, part ordered, no garage fees.
