Be careful parking near Heath hospital
A work friend of mine warned me yesterday about parking in the back streets near Heath hospital.
His son was born at 23 weeks a couple of weeks ago and is suffering serious health problems due to being born so premature.
He went to visit mum and baby and while parked in the road outside, had his bonnet keyed. It's happened 3 times to him in a few weeks and apparently it's happened to loads of visitors cars, including a silver bugeye wrx - anyone on here???
The police suspect it's a disgruntled neighbour who objects to people parking in the street, The person hasn't been caught doing it, even though people have hidden in the bushes waiting.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
I think the street is here:

Sounds definitely like a dodgy resident - I live 1 minutes drive from there and my car is normally parked in the street and havent had it happen - which would be likely if it was kids going around doing it.
But saying that.... I'm pretty sure all the roads that close the hospital are resident parking only ??? I know all the 'saints' roads between the hospital and Heathwood Rd are, because mine is one of the closest roads to there that isnt, and its like a bl00dy carpark - all of them with the hospital stickers in the windows !

Apparently the vandal is totally indiscriminate. They've done an old blokes Merc and a disabled badge holder's car, to name just a few. It's also the same M.O. each time - a deep scratch across the bonnet.
The old boy in the Merc had his done a few weeks ago and didn't notice it immediately, so didn't know where it happened. He had the bonnet resprayed and then went back to visit the ill relative and it happened again, within an hour or so of parking up!!!
Apparently the silver bugeye was keyed so forcefully it dented the bonnet (soft alloy I suppose )
Judging by what my work mate says, the person doing it better hope they're caught by the Police, rather than the queue of people looking for them...

Can we get some confirmation which road it is exactly ??? I generally walk around King George Drive ( the road alongside the park ) and up Rhydhelig ave past the little roundabout most days if I'm going to the shop or post office so I can keep an eye out for anyone looking suspicious.

i got an appointment on 23rd at the Heath but am in cardiff fairly regularly so was planning to park on maindee road. i know its a bit of a walk but prepared to do it. i.m not surprised at the response of some residents. I have needed to park in Cardiff for over 5 years and if the powers that be don't make life difficult enough the bloody neighbours will. i sympathise with them but the council pull the strings and vex the issue which only makes life worse for both visitor and resident.

The real problem with the hospital is that they tendered out the parking there, and it now costs a fortune - its not so much visitors or patients, but staff who have to pay every day. Until they bought in the residents parking it was getting really bad - most homes in the area have ( at least ) two cars, but from around 7am to 7pm you couldnt even park on your own street a lot of the time.
Dan - better to park either on Heathwood Rd, or one of the side streets off it ( you can park on any of the ones on the left hand side as you are coming from the Birchgrove Pub end ) as I think these would be closer.
