Having purchased a PSI3 ecu data monitor, and now i have got hold of the Subaru senders/wiring for oil temp and pressure, has anyone fitted them if so are there any pitfalls to look out for..

Interested on how much you paid for these and where from, I know the PSI3 ones use defi senders but cost a small fortune, would like some for Secs unit.
As far as I know you plug them into the unit and screw them into the engine in the correct places. or you can use a sandwich plate on the oil filter

Got them from PSI3, and yes they are not cheap, but a set of 3 Defi gauges and center pod dont come cheap, even got a carbon pod and heater vent surround as part of the deal, no lumps and bumps allover the dash..The senders cost 170 if i recall..They come with the idots guide for installation, but just wondered if there is any thing i should be looking out

I was quoted £190 = vat for the Defi sensors and all the bits needed for installation, the sensor wires then just connect into the back of the unit.
I think the take off points are the oil pressure sender under the alternator and a plank plug on the block but i was going to use a swandwich plate which installs between the block and the oil filter, the swandwich plate then has take off opoints for the defi sensors .
You can use other sensors that are a 1/4 of the price but the psi3 is calibrated for defi sensors, if we could find out if any other sensors were the same as defi then we would be laughing.
Going to speak to power station on r/r day about this.

easy to fit the sensors - Just need to move the alternator and take off the intercooler. You can get a mounting bracket that goes by the filter but this won't give you absolutely true readings.
check the PSI website for pics and a guide. Haven't heard of any other sensors that are compatible
Happy to help if you need a hand

Ditto above. Rob helped me fit mine. Get a nice long extension bar thin one and some allen key sockets, sorry but can't remember the size. I have the plugs at home so I'll check.
There is a bulk head plug/grommet that the wiring goes through behind the pedals.
Piece of wee wee really, also got loads of circlips etc to wire them in nicely I'll help too.

It will have to wait for a while i think unless i can find some cheaper senders, can't afford £180 at the mo with all the brake, suspension mods and fitting a new clutch/flywheel and also need a major service.
Perhaps i'll look into a group buy with PSI3 in a month or 2.

With some thing so important cost is not a issue, if only we looked after our health with the same intent. Note the Defi/Psi3 was designed to be used with these senders.!!!!!

I spoke to simon at PSI a while back about using different sensors he said that they will work but the unit is callabrated for defis so the reading might not be accurate. Its worth noting though that although other sensors might not be accurate they will be relevant i.e. will show readings outside your normal range so they will warn you of low oil pressure / high oil temps which are the most importaint reasons for having them.
