Thumbs up Handling or Power with pics

Well I have been toying for a bit about more power but I have had second thoughts and I am now going to go for the handling
Is there a doctor in the house!!!!!!!!
Booked the car in for Wednesday 1st Feb at POWERSTATION for the following work to be carried out

1.TSL Coilovers all round
2.Alloy top mounts all round
3.Bump Steer mod
4.Anti-lift Kit
5.Front Whiteline ARB
6.Front Alloy Droplinks
7.4 Wheel Alignment
I have already got Whiteline ARB and Alloy droplinks for the rear so after all this she should stick to the road like s**t to a blanket
So I cant wait till wednesday BRING IT ON as I love a very firm ride

They are just the standard WRX ones I think but on my last scoob it had coilovers and the handling was brilliant so lets hope these will be better

Booked mine in today to have the:

RARB, drop links, Anti Lift, and geometry for the Dyno day. Oh and a K&N panel filter. Still undecided on whether to buy them in advance to save some £££ and also paint them as the Whiteline kit has bad reports on coatings or get it all through PS.

Also undecided on Eibachs? Come on Rich persuade me as to why I should? What is the drop? Coil overs are not an option.

NovaRally can you PM the costs (Or post here) for your work if you don't mind? I'd be interested to see what its costing you.

Do you want to really drop the car low or just get it to sit down a little more ?

The last scoob I had was sitting low and was like a go cart on the road then i raised her a little along with 4 wheel alignment and you couldnt push her in the bends as much so to answer your question I`ll have to see what powerstation recommend

Have a look here http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=479722 Post 10 and also Graham 911 and John BigBrakes recommend going even further with the Stage 3 and 4 but they are looking at Hill climbing.
The Eibachs may be a good alternative for dropping. Worth considering as there is a £700 saving over the AST's.
But if you have the cash do it. Only then will you be happy.

It all depends what you want from your car, Daz's type r has cusco coil overs and sticks to the road like cat s**T to a blanket but the ride is a little firm for normal use but great for the on rails cornering
Eibachs are never going to be as good for flat cornering but a great option between comfort and a firm ride, ideal for normal everyday use but dont expect to much if your going on track days etc,
also weigh up the cost , a set of coil overs is going to be around £12oo give or take a few hundred while eibachs are around £150
You pays your money and takes your choice.
The eibachs were just right for what i wanted

Track days is an option that I am looking at once I have finished all the mods I have in mind but it will take time to do everything so one thing at a time. It was the same on my Nova I had all the suspension done first and on the Twilight rally last year I was running a standard 1300 but managed to finish 10th overall as the handling was there and you could really push it in the lanes. I just hope I will be pleased on Wednesday night

Post Setting up the car

Novarally

When you have the work done let curtis know exatly what you intend to do with the car, he will then give you one of his more radical setups as a starter, did 200+ miles testing/setups, then went back with my imformation and had it tweeked even more ..

Of up there tomorrow to meet up with graham(911) and yet more tweeking

John

Ps where are you located

The setup depends on what use the car will be put too, as a ex roadrally/Tarmac man (circa 70s & 80s) the chassis setup is of the most importance, then only then will you be able to extract the power from the engine, many a time has a 1300cc out performed a more powerful car (4 wheel drive included)..
So when the seat of your pants feel comfortable, then only then should you start on the engine ..

I think you have hit the nail on the head as reference to my Nova when I had the 1300 engine in it, which was probably worth 50 quid there were boys out in 2.0 litre cars which were modified to the hilt were actually in the way so it only goes to show that on the lanes power is not everything but on the long straights I would be finding the way through their tyre smoke
But in the scoob which will not be used for rallying it will be nice to use the power properly

Get the Eibach's done. If you like you can take my car for a spin through some lanes first to see how it fairs compared to yours?

(you break, you pay of course )
