Todays little project
As today was nice weather. I decided to tackle to mamouth job of tidying up my boot.
Anyone who has ever seen my boot may be shocked by the results.
Being a builder it's been know for me to carry bags of cement, plaster, rubble and god knows what else. This had taken it's toll on the poor boot carpet, it was covered in stains and lumps of wood glue that had leaked and then dried.
I had also been getting water in the boot that appeared to of been getting through one of the spoiler wholes, I had resealed that last week.
Anyhow, I didn't take me long to throw everything away, two din bags later and that was sorted!!!!!!!
I'd managed to find everything I needed off ebay,
Amp £28
Amp wiring kit £8.50
Accustic carpet £4.99
Already had a Kenwood Sub mounted in MDF box which I had off a friend for £30
1 sheet of sterling board £0.00 stolen off my old man.
1 sheet of 25mm kingspan insulation £0.00 as given that by my neighbour
Grand total £71.49
I cut the king span (Foam insulation sandwiched between alloy foil)
Using the old carpet as a template.
Next I cut the stearling board again using the old carpet as a template, I used stearling board instead of MDF as that cost a fortune, I was goner use plywood but we only had 25mm on site and that is more expensive than MDF!!!
I then spent an hour or so covering the stearling board with accustic carpet.
The board is cut in half for two reason: 1, it's easier to get in and out of the boot. 2, I wouldn't have to remove the sub in order to get at the spare wheel.
I then ran all the wires for the amp and fitted the cover board sections
Fitted the sub and screwed this to the stearing board.
All I need to do now is a little bit of cable management and jobs a good un.
Oh and the AMP's fooked so I'm needing to get another!!!!!! It's getting no power, I've checked all the wires and connections and everything is okay.
That will only take ten mintues to swap over when that arrives next week.

Nice one dan the greens will be pleased using that insulation board
As you know i did a very similar thing using mdf and dynamat although i made mine into a 3 piece so i could get at the spare wheel with out taking out the sub and amp.
This is how it all looks after the install was compleated.

Very nice.
Spot the people who don't use their car for everyday use (Kev) and therefore have no use for the practicalities of having a real, usable boot space.
Looking good though

Danny I have a price for the valet for you
It looks to be £35 for all the seats and carpets, headlining and door cards
That awful silicon is optional for the dashboard
They do machine polishing as well if you want to give the old girl a treat as I think it may be quite a job the first time by hand.
They don't do block bookings as their prices are low as it stands I've got a few cards so I'll pass one to you next weekend. You can leave it there or wait for it whatever is best as I dare say if it's a weekend sat/sun I can meet you at Magor and you can follow me there
I'm going to get mine done next month sometime I'll wait for a nice weekend and call in to see if they have a space, you don't really need to book in he said just turn up, but with you travelling over booking would be best.

Good job mate, I reckon you should cover the whole boot in accoustic carpet though, so it all matches.
Bit confused about the "being a builder" comment, don't builders start early in the morning!?
