the gurnos estate would be the answer if you asked someone from Mongolia the question!! it's up there with the bronx!
abergavenny is pretty bad..between me and the missus our cars were broken into 4 times in 2 years...they even nicked the baby seat from her car...we lived in a nice part too.
i'm always sceptical up the valleys as well..(ebbw, brynmawr etc)
what's it like where u live taff?

i'm up towards risca - blackwood - caerphilly way.
Not to bad, just gotta be careful, thats all. I always adopt the, well it does look a bit dodgy approach and find some where there are loadsa cars and people approach. But overall ok.
Up caerphilly way in the centre and surroundings is dodgy in the nights. But nant garu the cinema bit seems to be ok. Oh yeah and blackwood at night is one to avoid on the weekends, wouldnt advise tha!!
Suprised to here that about abergavenny, i know quite a few people up that neck of the woods, and aint heard any bad stuff before?
Agreed on the Gurnos though, you wouldnt catch me going up there in the day !
As for being skeptical about the valleys, i just adopt common sense, if its well lit, and popular, then park near everyone else, hope not to get scratched or pranged ,then you should be ok.
Big car parks like asda etc, can be ok, only in day though, as always busy. But avoid in the night, cos the chavs !!!
If you are forced to park somewhere in the nights and cant find anything suitable, try looking for a nicer well lit nearby housing estate, then park out side someones house and walk to your destination. Then if your alarm does go off, they'll here it and "usually" report it or at least disterb them.
Thats what i do most of the times.
Or falling that, get a taxi.
