The location of mobile camera units relies on external factors such as the weather, road works and parking problems. If the Safety Camera Partnership is unable to operate at these locations due to external circumstances, it will attempt to inform the public where possible.

Notes to editors:
The Safety Camera Partnership in South Wales, which operates static and mobile safety camera enforcement in the South Wales, Gwent and Dyfed Powys police force areas, was set up in April 2000 under a Government piloted scheme. It allows capital for the purchase of speed and red light cameras and enforcement equipment to be funded from fixed penalty revenue. Safety camera enforcement was previously funded from local authority and police budgets. As a result of its contribution to road casualty reduction, the scheme is being rolled out nationally, with 42 Partnerships currently operating in the UK.

I dont know why they bother as they put every bloody mobile site in the region on the list, you may as well say mobile cameras operating wherever we damn well feel like it!!

Whose that pillock of a chief constable in North Wales, he came out with a gem the other day when someone said about North Wales Police concentrating on motorists instead of every day life altering crime like burglary. Something along the lines," I dont know what all the fuss is about, people know if they are doing more than 30 in a 30 zone they are commiting a crime". How did this t**t become a chief constable. Talk about over simplyfying an issue. How many millions of car journeys take place per day, it would be like arresting everybody who picked up a screwdriver for being equiped to commit a burglary. Call me old fashioned but I thought a key element to safe driving was actually to look outside the windows every now and then, or have i missed a trick somewhere.

I was caught speeding on a Sat morning a couple of years ago in some roadworks on a dual carriageway. 43 in a 30. How reckless, well no not really, I was the only car in sight, it was a clear bright day and there was nobody actually working the roadworks. So who the hell was I a danger too? the fact that an Sti can probably stop from 43 quicker that a Landrover could from 15mph is irrelevant!!! Well I am totally re-habilitated, I'm going straight. Well no actually I'm lying. I continue to drive this day as I did that day, to the conditions, visibility and the location.

PS. For sale, one slightly used soap box.

When i seen all the possible places that they had them it shocked me
My 5 years of admitting to doing 43 in a 30 will be up this September and touch wood i have been clean since
Seriously considering a Road Angel or similar now after seeing how well Twigster's worked the other week on the way to G Force...

Add all those locations up consider 70% end up with cams and they catch say 50 peeps speeding on each........ times that by £60.......... that is some serious earnings for the week !!!
Makes you wonder why we have any other crime at all with that going into the system to cover the other areas oh i forgot what pot does it go back into Say no more is best........ Who's next for the soapbox ??????

Just one note guys...
Road angels or any camera detectors DO NOT WORK on mobile cameras. They can give some warning, but no-where near enough and not all the time.

Twig, i read somewhere about a small laser sight unit that you can mount inside or outside the car that detects anything being pointed at you ? would that be a mobile unit mate ?
I am sure it was on the angel like yours...... going to have to study up a little on this

Si,

Laser jammers are what you refering to and yep they work against mobile cameras. They block the signal long enough for you to drop your speed so when they meaasure you again your below the legal limit. do a serach on here - i have seen loads of posts about these in the past.

Thumbs down

As what twigster says, my cousin was done, even with his neo laser detector, laser is line of sight, so when your detector can detect them, they can snap you, he slammed on the anchors soon as the detector went off, but the buggers are often around corners etc, rader detectors give you loads more warning, but laser ones arent really that much help unless you have very good brakes!

Waiting for the time when cameras are put where they should be, in town near schools hospitals etc NOT above motorways where you rarely see accidents anyway, money grabbing arsewipes.

Goes out to find a little bloke to punck, cal

Wink

Cheer Gents,
I don't fancy going down the laser jammer direction myself, i just got to thinking if you can give yourself a little insight on accident black spots, fixed cameras, schools etc at least it just gives you a little fore warning on any possible problem areas.
You here more and more about people being booked for just 5mph over the limit even in a 30mph zone... so any little extra assistance is usefull, without growing to dependant on it of course.
I am planning on getting around a little more in the car this year with the meets that are coming up and going into new areas it could be a very useful tools to get..... don't fancy getting 3 points agian if i can possibly help it
