Cool

After spending all day saturday fitting new headers and turbo I had the car re-mapped monday - I'm well chuffed to say the least:

Through the 280bhp barrier at last! (281 to be exact )

Not bad for a 97UK turbo on quite a hot day, it'll be interesting to see how all you import owners (and twigster) do when you go up the dyno shootout in a couple of weeks.

Two things almost spoilt the day though - broke down on the way home on the M4 (and losing a couple of gallons of SUL) when the fuel pipe came off the regulator (it was probably my fault for not tightening up one of the jubilee clips).

Also I've probably got a NIP on my way after getting lasered on the approach to the bridge when doing around 85 (watch out for that one when you head up there)

Son of a ****!!!
I am going for the 'fastest UK in Wales' title!! Get off my land!
Good result though Rich, we shall see how the twig mobile goes on the 11th October. If you want to come along for the day it would be good to see you anyway! Which headers/turbo have you gone for in the end, and what is happening with your old tdo5 (think that is what was on the 97's)?
Matt.

Matt,
I got a secondhand VF28 (used on P1 & STi5) fitted together with gruppe s headers (they fitted great with a flexi up-pipe btw).

The old turbo is a TD04 and looks tiny in comparison, boost is now rock solid up past 6500rpm, long after the TD04 would run out of puff.

Its transformed the car, pulls stronger and over a wider rev range.

You will have to take me out for a go mate, sounds like I will have some competition! What's your torque figure looking like, mine is expected to be around 280bhp with around 260/270lbft. At least I hope so because the last thing I want is to get my **** kicked!
How much was the vf28 if you don't mind me asking?
Matt.

You'll have to pop round my house and I'll give u a go m8,

To be honest I was a little disapointed with the torque figure, it was not much higher than before at 244 lbs. But when I compared it on the powerstation dyno site it looks comparable to a decatted P1 (better than two of the three posted).

I'm not sure how they arrive at the torque figure (i.e. what gear its measured in)

With the same spec on two different occasions at powerstation I produced exactly the same power at 240bhp but 20lbs difference in the torque 220/240 ftlbs - work that one out...

The VF28 I picked up for £240, no blue smoke yet so I'm happy

Bloody hell that's cheap!
Will try and pop over some time fairly soon, be good to catch up and have a chat about scoobies! If there are any more going at that price then i may be tempted to go for one!
Will take you out for a go in mine as well mate, should be interesting as a comparison!
Give me a call sometime, 07810 828131, although you might not get a response tonight as I am out watching the Man U game with a few beers!!

Twigster,
i was going to slate your car/power output, as you couldnt shake that red rover 400 the other night ( he was all over your ***). but i wont have a go as it was probably your driving and not the cars fault. (lol)
