Tempted, have you done CC before. Looking for some reassurance that it's well organised, someone else isn't going to total my car. Do you get track cover on your own insurance or organisers?

Did CC at the 'Rally Day' a couple of months ago and really enjoyed myself !!
There was a mixed bag of cars on the track, some quicker, some slower. Never really felt worried about totalling the car !! However, some of the spectators may not agree with me on that point !!
CC were well organised, full safety briefing, run through the track and the do's & don'ts. Plus they only let about 10 cars out at any one point.
The Bookatrack event is an open pit lane set up, which means they'll only let a certain amount of cars on the track at any one time - one off, one on. Believe me, after 6-8 laps you'll want to rest yourself and the car, reflect on your driving and get back out there.
I'm insured with Direct Line who do not cover me for these events so I took out separate insurance.
If you fancy a mainly Subaru event, the SIDC have some places left for Bedford Aerodrome GT Circuit for the 30th Nov. Cost is about 175.00. I'm also attending that.
On a serious note, it's a really good safe opportunity to really get to know your car. I pushed the STI much further than I ever have on the road and as a result feel much more confident with what it can do.
But, after doing it once you will get the bug !!
Go for it !

Like the sound of the Bedford meet, mostly Subaru's and large run off areas, ideal for a novice like myself Only been to CC once and if I remember right it's not too forgiving.
I'm staying with my sister-in-law in London on the weekend of the 30th so geographically nearer I suppose. You driving up on the day or staying overnight? Any of the Welsh boys going?
I'll have a think and get back to you.

I'm travelling up on the Friday night and staying at a place called the Woodlands Manor Hotel that's just a couple of miles away from the track. That way I can have an early start.
I'm staying with my folks in Oxford the Saturday night as they are looking after Natalie for me.
Looks like it should be a top day as it's being organised by the SIDC. They've had a bit of trouble getting the numbers, at the moment the event is on. Check out the main BBS as there are several threads about the meet.
You can book online via the SIDC sites shop.
As for the rest of the Welsh Boys...........it's all gone quiet !!
It would be good if we could get a few cars there.
Hopefully, the PPP should be fitted in plenty of time as I'm next on the list at CVC. Good opportunity to get to know the car again.
Let me know.

Should have guessed you're getting the PPP. What backbox have you got at the mo? If it's non standard could be interested in it or the Prodrive one.

I've got the Prodrive WR Sport backbox at the mo.
CVC have offered a discount, but don't know how much yet if I don't have the PPP box.
Ideally, I want to try them both and see which is the best sounding and gives the better power. I've been led to believe that the PPP box like for like is quieter as it's got quite a job to do with the new downpipe and straight through mid pipe.
It will probably depend on how much discount they'll give me.
I'll let you know.

Have you tried both then ?
What's the main differences in sound ?
It was supposed to have been fitted the same day as yours (I think). Been told it will be very soon. Waiting for the call.
Are you in SE Wales, if so, it would be good if you could take me for a spin in yours ?
Cheers

Well my other half had the Prodrive WR Sport backbox on his WRX, which was quiet noisy!. The PPP box is a bit quieter but the sound is pretty cool especially when your at high rev's.
I had the PPP fitted this Monday, took a while to do though. Took the car in just before 8:00am had it back about 12:45pm!.
I live in Tonyrefail which is not to far bridgend.

Chaps,
Bookatrack events are quite possibly the safest trackdays I know of, I think they have had over 300 events with no car-to-car contact due to their strictly enforced overtaking rules. Basically they do not allow any overtaking under braking / on corners etc, overtaking must be on the left and by consent on straights only. I've used a couple of other TD companies and quite frankly wouldn't bother again as they didn't enforce (or even have) overtaking rules. I also went to the Bookatrack organised Spa trackday last week, which even though it was wet was incredibly safe.
Castle Combe's quite a good circuit for turbo cars, I used to go there quite a lot with the RSOC and CCC, before the CCC days became dangerous (IMHO of course)

I had the PPp fitted on my Sti and found it far to quiet, so I changed the backbox for a Blitz Nur spec which has made it sound like it goes
On ther PPP the downpipe, small center and backboc are changed retaining the second (long) center.
P.S dont let them charge you labour on the PPP fitting as quite a few people have been charged well over the 2k that is on the Subaru Uk website!!

Worth the investment ?
But, mine get's done in a just over a week's time, after the spangley 18"s gets wrapped in black elastic bands.
Nils, you might be better staying with the WRSport box it get's louder with a 'few' miles.
Be nice if they give you £300 rebate wouldn't it?

Managed to get 150 out of the car last week.
