EJ22 engine information
Hi all,
I've recent bought a project UK2000 with an engine issue. It didn't idle to well and it constantly hunts. In the last couple of weeks we've just discovered it has a EJ22 block with, I'm assuming it's from a legacy non turbo version. The car has been remapped 7 years ago and looking at the receipts it was a 2.0 block then. I've tried contacting the previous owner as you have imagine he's not answering me.
So, my question is will the crank from this block cope with the extra power of forge pistons & rods?
Thanks
Chris

crank should be fine but the pistons on a NA car will be a higher compression. they wont like a lot of boost.
best to start from scratch if you don't know what you've got.
What are the heads from??

Or you may have got lucky and got a 22B block?

Hi Matt, I finally got the block split. The heads are original (id markings inlet ID2, exhaust ED2). No piston oil jets, open deck block, so does look like its from NA EJ22 legacy.
So, the next stage is to find some cheap turbo pistons to get me back on the road and a remap. Any suggestions guys?
