Default Snapped calliper bolt

Guys, just looking for anyone that has used a company to remove a snapped calliper bolt.

I think the bolt was almost all the way out before it snapped. It hasn't snapped flush, I have about 1 inch of thread sticking out....if you know what I mean!!

I'm no engineer, but I think if a bolt head could be welded on (or held with grips tight enough) & wound back in with a bit of grease or WD40 on to lube up the internal thread, it may well just wind back out!

I'm looking for a company that knows what they're doing & comes recommended.

Cheers in advance
Iggy

Give Ian a call at Godspeed mate, he will know what to do.

He used to have a GT-R aswell if this is the car you have the issue on.

I maybe able to get it out but depends on how much of the bolt I have to weld a nut onto it?? I'd have to have a picture of it, sounds like the bolt has picked up on the threads

I did mate!
But due to issues first with his ramp being tied up, my appointment got cancelled. Then after a few email & a call or two & I just never got a reply!!

Shame really, as I've used Ian for a full set of brakes before & his service was great, as was the kit. Which actually I now need a full set of discs, pads & fluid change again on the other half JCW Mini.

Who knows, maybe I just caught him at a busy time..

There's about 1 inch of thread sticking out.
As I was un-winding it, it just made a what I can only describe as a 'dry squeak' sound & snapped!
That's why I think, if I can wind it back in with some lubricant then extract it, it should come out.
Failing that it will have to be 'helicoil'. I already have an OE replacement bolt.

Imo, by the sounds of it it'll have to be helicoiled even if the bolt would come out. By all means if you want to pop up I'll have go at getting it out for you, I'm up in Blaenavon, not sure if this is to far for you but the offer's there if you need it??

Sounds like the top of the bolt near the head was weak and sheared.

Like you side, you may have corrosion on the exposed thread end, which caused the bolt to tighten then snap.
