### PETROL AT BEDFORD ? ###

Chris
They sell it on site at about a 10-15% premium. Worth it versus the hassle of changing back off slicks etc for the public road especially as it was quite a way to the nearest one if I remember correctly.
Mind you at Brands in Feb I completely forgot and drove about 5 miles to the nearest Super U garage. While standing filling the car up realised that I had my track wheels on, all my lights were taped up with white tape and I had taken my front number plate off for some extra cooling....just as a Police Volvo wagon pulled up at the next pump to fill up as well .
He was obviously half asleep as he even looked at the car a few times in a bored way. I sodded off as quick as possible back to Brands, passing another 2 of the same going the other way. The last one shook his head at me but let me go on my way.

Wow....you were fortunate then
Thanks for that, I'll give the circuit a bell in the morning just to make sure it'll deffo be open, I usually use the on-site fuel @ Donnington and as you say is well worth the lack of hassle re; wheels etc...

they took plastic from me last time but I had to go to the accounts dept and it took up valuable track time!! Like you say better to have some readies available.
Chris- 99p/1.00 rings a bell but what the hell a 10p increase in fuel costs per litre is the smallest part of the day out

Assuming you are coming off the A14 if coming from Manchester, There is Optimax on the A6 at Finedon, or at the A14/A45 roundabout at Thrapston.
Alternatively, Rushden (6 miles Nth of Thurleigh) has Optimax on the Wellingborough Rd at Croylands Garage, but may be difficult to locate.
No Optimax as far as I know in Bedford.

Indeed no Optimax in Bedford - nearest I know is south in Ampthill but you will be coming from the other direction. Having said that the one near Rushden would be a lot closer.
If you are not too fussy there is a Sainsbury's 3 miles farther south down the A6 to Bedford

Jerry cans are the way to go !
I take 2x20L cans and that USUALLY will see me through the day without having to go offsite or pay extortionate on-track prices.
I think they're about £25 each from Halfords.

Beat me to it, I was just going to suggest jerrycans. Just one thing ... don't do what my dad does and lean them back to fill the whole thing right up, because when you open them properly upright they squirt a pint of petrol onto your feet.
