Finding the Clunk- where to start?
Hi people.
2001 wrx. Standard suspension.
Theres a clunk/knock from the front passenger side on bumps, small and large. Weve had it on the ramp, couldnt find and play in ARB bushes etc.
What else can it be?
Ive just been out and jacked that wheel up, pulled on the wheel at 3 and 9 o clock positions. The whole strut twists slightly! Should this happen? Other than that i cant feel much play.
Any other ideas.
Thanks.

It seems you check the usual suspect, ARB bush, drop links, ball joint, etc.
Is it on one side or both side?
One thing you can do to chase noise out is to swap the top mount (or the damper if applicable) to see if the noise change side.
That will confirm or rule out the possibility that it is the "suspension assembly".
Its a pain to do, but very chasing noise out is a time consuming process sometime.
Good luck, and let us know how we can help.

They can, normally it is the bearing inside.
I aren't 100% sure on the WRX top mount, but top mount is a perishable item so it will need replacement "when" it fail.
It isn't dangerous where it will just fall apart on you (up to a point), but will be good to get them checked out if you feel something could be wrong.
