Question

Hi,

I've got lowered springs on the old baby at the moment, but with 18s and AP 6pots on, the standard dampers aren't up to the job.

What's the best setup to get for under a grand?

Leda? Bilstein? AVO?

What's worth getting and what's worth avoiding?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rich

Hi Rich,

Can't give any advice myself but i'd love to hear peoples views too. I've spoke to ABP in crewe tho' and they said that the Apex coilover kit (bout £950) is very popular. Personally i'd love the Bilstien PSS9 but are they worth the extra (bout £200) over the AVO's??

I run on apex (from ABP) on MY94 & they give excellent ride, stiff & very little roll, but comfy over bumps as well!!
I'd recommend them.
No experience with any others tho.

Hello Rich,

I've just had Bilstein PSS9's fitted by Powerstation along with their Bumpster mod! I can recommend the coilovers they really make the car handle and of course are fully adjustable, even when set quite hard the car is still smooth over bumps.

Rich,
I am leaning towards Bilsteins. Will do a track day at Croft and make a decision. (14th June)

For what it's worth, I've never tried Bilsteins on a Scoob but I have had them on a number of other cars and have NEVER been dissapointed
I have had Spax, Koni, and AVO (on other cars) and wouldn't rank them even close !

I have used Leda on a circuit car, they were very good but I've no idea what they would be like for dual purpose.
