Default Recommend me someone good for geometry...

Hay all,

I live in Eastbourne area and work in Hastings, could any of you suggest to me someone/somewhere/someplace good to have a 4 wheel alignment/tracking etc done? Would it be good to have somewhere who uses the hunter system?

I dont mind traveling a bit if its worth it - I am up near London sometimes so somewhere in the South UK area would be good.

I just put new tyres on my 2002 uk spec wrx last week and wanted to have this done- the shop that fitted my tyres did my front end tracking but that was it as that was all they had the facilities to do.

I would like to have a full adjustment including front camber (probably going to run it around -1 degree or something?). Let me know if you have any suggestions or general recommendations.

FYI I am running stock suspension other than a front strut, 270 bhp with remap and normal mods for the typical tdo4 setup (up pipe down pipe decat blah blah blah).

Best wishes

Chris

You don't really need any kind of 'specialist' to set your geometry. You can take along a set-up you are after to a garage and ask for those settings to be dialed in. The tech just needs to know how to wobble the bolts in the lower strut clevis to get the camber (as much as you can).

I would recommend a shop with a 4 wheel laser alignment jobbie, like a Hunter system. This will cost you ~£50 rather than £130 at a some 'specialist' who will do the same thing

OK thanks for this info, very helpful. I believe I can go up to something like -1.2 degrees camber in the front- would that be ideal? Or should I stick to something closer to -1 degree as this is just for fast road use not for the track as its my daily driver .

And would you recommend getting the bolts for the rear so you can adjust the rears or should I stick to the front only?

Are there any other settings I should ask them for specifically with my car?

And finally, when you say a good 4 wheel laser setup does that mean not bothering with the hunter system? ( i understood most of the hunter systems use imaging instead of a laser). I am up near west london next week and thought about going to subaru4you as they seemed decent.

Thanks again for all your help man, much appreciated.

Hey mate...little bit out of our way but Skidmarques in Brentwood are fantastic, and use the Hunter system. They set cars for track days and will return to stock for road driving at no extra cost.

Thanks for this suggestion man, I appreciate it.

Curious if someone can answer my other questions about suggested settings etc from post number 3. Remember I have stock suspension besides a front strut .

Have a trawl through this thread, it should have pretty much all you need to know

For 'fast road' you should go for the max camber your stock bolts will give. You may get -1.5° if you're lucky which will be good

Go with a Hunter system, yes. Take in a print out from the thread, give it to the tech and away you go

Let us know how you get on

Hay all just to ask one more thing- are you fairly certain I should go with some rear camber bolts? Or could I get away without it if I dont plan to track her?

I heard somewhere that you could indeed adjust rear camber anyways on a 2002 if you just moved something around back there - cant recall what though!

Let me know your thoughts thanks again
