Never noticed lol.
I'm only put the passenger rear on and just matched it to the one i took off. Can't brake the other bolts that hold the strut.
Going to put the wheels back on and take it to a garage to break them loose with a impact driver

Yeah, the rears can be right pain if they've neve been touched. Because you're technically turning the bolt rather than loosening the nut. I spray the nuts down and then use a long breaker ratchet and sometimes slide the handle of my jack onto the ratchet for extra leverage. Remember to ONLY use 1/2" drive tools on the suspension components. You will break 3/8" drive ratchets in no time. Or bring it to a shop to have them loosen things up. Technically Subaru uses 19mm single use lock nuts on the struts. So you should replace them with fresh ones. I, however, have reused those nuts several times as I'm a cheap git. So far, never had any issues with them loosening up. But just a heads up so you know how to do it properly before you make the decision not too!
In regards to the direction, note the position/direction of the brake line and ABS mounts. That's a sure way to figure out which way to mount things. On new/unfamiliar installs I usually take my phone or digital camera and take a few pics of things so I can double check the proper install and positioning. Also, only work on one side at a time, i.e. only left side or right side of car (but make sure the whole front, whole rear or both are jacked up). That way you can look at the opposite side still complete and installed as a reference.
