Default Suspension Query / Advice needed

Bit of help required please but I am not too mechanically minded so bear with me

I have a standard 2007 WRX Hawkeye which I have had for approx 10 months now and is my first Scooby. I am used to the slight bounciness (especially on the motorway) but the car does seem to feel every bump / pothole in the road and over catseye etc with a bit of a thud. I suppose I have always thought it was just part of having a car with stiffer/harder suspension compared to my previous cars but reading various threads on here I gather that the shockers are prone to failure regularly. I guess the question is what are the signs and symptoms of the shockers going as the car only has a couple of months warranty left so I want to get it sorted before then if there is a problem. When the car was up on the ramp a few weeks back I had a quick look underneath and there were no signs of oil leaks etc. from any of the shockers.

Thanks

They usually make a knocking noise, stiff and harsh is what you bought into with an STI.

IMHO.

I have knocking rear struts on my car at the moment, it tends to be more noticeable at low speed (say 10mph) and sounds similar to a rear door that isn't shut properly, on my car its also very noticeable when reversing onto a drive, i think i will be going for a set coilovers very soon.

Open a rear door, stand on the sill and jump up and down...

She'll knock !

P.S. Don't discount just swapping the rears, I was happy enough with mine till I passed 400 bhp...
