I have sti struts/prodrive springs on my 03 blobeye, they have silicone tubing fitted to the lower two coils rear springs, not front. Unsure of why the tubing is there as bought used/complete, just that the tubing is there.

I have the pink Prodrive shocks which, as most will confirm are KYB shocks. The rubber you suggest for the springs is a little baffling or its my often case of ignorance on the subject. Are you refereeing to the rubber that houses the the springs. I have no viable rubber on or around my shocks that I feel is meant to prevent a knocking noise.. The knocking noise with STI shocks is a hardening of the inner grease that water can create. If you have these shocks a simple test is to get in the back of the car and simply bounce. You can replicate the the noise you get from pull away by applying down force in the back seats while the car is stationary.
