Default Best place to get replacement STI rear shocks

The dreaded knocking rear shock problem is starting to annoy me now, I'm on my second set as the first were replaced under warranty a few years back. I don't really want to upgrade the suspension, but don't really want to pay the rip off prices that Subaru want to charge for a pair of shocks .I'm lead to believe that KYB make the standard shocks , but my local specialist is unable to source them . Any help as to where I can buy replacement shocks that won't break the bank . Car is a 2005 STI UK with standard suspension .

Thanks for any help

Dave

My 03 Sti had the same problem and I sourced KYB replacements from a company over here called Prosport. Been on a year and no problems. Just Google it to get somone local to you.

Thanks for that , that was the route I was thinking of , I've found KYB Kayaba Ultra SR's that look like a direct replacement for just over £200 (plus fitting) here http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?show=30223
Which is a great deal cheaper than the Subaru replacement , where these the type you replaced with? Or has anyone any experiance with these shocks ?

many thanks
Dave

I have KYB Ultra's on my car and they have started knocking, in my opinion they are no better than standard in terms of eliminating the dreaded knocking. I contacted them to see if they can be rebuilt but they were not interested - I have decided to go down the coilover route now, at least they can be rebuit if you chose the right ones.

I bought a rear complete pair for my Sti classic from Subaru. Cost £220

I didn't want to upgrade as handling was fine with a heavier rear arb

You do know that KYB make the factory shocks and as we know they are rubbish, expect knocking again!

Just wanted to know if you sorted your suspension and if so what did you buy and what did it cost 1. shox 2.fitting ?

Plus if anyone else knows of any other brands that are reasonable regarding costs.

Cheers

Sorry I didn't see your post earlier , yes I went for the shocks from Camskill I mention in the above post http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php?show=30223, very fast delivery and the guy there said they supply plenty of them , all in all bought and fitted for under £300, I guess I could have had a go at fitting them myself , but after Id bought a spring clamp, and probably rounded off the bolts on the old shocks it didn't seem worth it
