Hawkeye rear susspension knocking noise

Hawkeye rear susspension knocking noise
Help,
I have recently heard a knocking noise at the rear of my car, only seems to be when going over bumps slowly or pulling away.
I have been towing a trailer so not sure if that had helped in causing it.
I also can't see how you can get to check the top susspension mount....
Any help is much apreciated as I want to sell the car asap.
Cheers all

Do a search on this mate as there have been loads of threads already regarding the shocks for the hawk eye. In a nut shell the shocks are crap they can stick which can be sorted with WD40 on the inner shaft but normally they keep on knocking. They can be stripped down and repacked with grease but this a big job and not always 100%. Or replaced with BC's which is probably the best option but not cost effective if your selling
I think you have to take out the back seats to gain access to the top of the shocks

Thanks guys, good to know i am not lone.
Not sure if it is out of warranty, its an 07.
Guess I will have to ring up Subaru for a price. Guess they will charge a fortune.
Will try wd40 though.
Thanks again for quick response.

Seems a bit of a waste to buy a good set of coilovers then sell the car. There was I guy selling some rears in the for sale section but I can not remember his name you could try putting and ad in the wanted section for a used pair (making sure they don't knock)

Wait if its 2007 surly its still under warranty get it back to the dealers and get them changed for free, if it was me tho I don't think I would mention about the towing. I have also had two changed under warranty, Subaru are well aware of the problems with the shocks so they don't say to much and its a quick job

Might just be a loose roll bar drop link, worth a look before you get serious with struts. Park on a level surface and get under the car and try to wiggle them. Can be surprisingly noisy.
