My 94WRX came onto these shores with lots of Prodrive extras which included the suspension. It consists of Grey Bilsteins and Blue springs, which i'm led to believe is the WRprodrive package.Y/N. Unfortunately the rear offside shock is now delivering severe back ache when in contact with any pot holes and the likes and just makes me sea sick all other times.
With it being an Import i can't go to my local subaru garsge, so any ideas on getting a replacement, or will it be time to change the lot, and if so to what?
Please help quickly to preserve my aching back!!!

Franchised Subaru garage will politely tell you to **** off. Best finding local subaru specialist, Town end garage, Carnforth should be near you . I've never used them but they have a web site http://www.townendgarage.co.uk/

I've seen adverts in motoring news I think or some where for parts to rebuild Bilsteins.

You will have to get the bilsteins re valved, they have different levels and standard are sports tuned which are very stiff.

These come with a three year warranty form Prodrive. If all the documentation came with the car, along with all the receipts for the suspension etc, I would chance my hand with a warranty claim. They are an after market accessory so it wont matter if they are fitted to an import or not. So if the receipt is there and they arent 3 years old yet, you know what to do.

My WRX MY96 also came to these shores with suspension mods that included Bilsteins and HKS springs. I have had to replace the rear inserts as they were completely knackered after 85k miles. It depends on the struts. If they are KYB struts with Bilstein inserts it is a relatively eaasy job to replace them. If they are Bilstein struts you will have a problem sourcing them outside of Japan.

I got the replacement inserts from Falkland Performance Centre in Glenrothes, Fife. They do mail order. Their Tel. No, is 01592 773677. If you are a SIDC member you should get some discount.

Thumbs up

Charles
Spoke to Alan @ Falkland P.C. , but as mine are full Bilstein struts he was unable to help, other than offer the standard KYB strut which is OE on WRXs as a replacement.
He did kindly put me in touch with Eibach UK who sevice Bilsteins, so it now looks like i'll be walking a bit for the next couple of weeks. I'm sending both rears to be on the safe side.

Thanks to all for your input

Oh good, i'm not the only one to have Bilstein problems! I have had to replace 3 shockers from a set in the last year due to valve failures. I've spoken to Bilstein who refuse to admit that there is anything wrong with them. Something dodgy going on methinks....
