AFAIK the classic STi's had alloy wishbones and the WRX had steel. I believe they are interchangeable, but they are obvoius to identify. Alloy ones are raw aluminium whilst the steel ones are painted black.
IIRC, the front droplinks are different for each type, so if you plan to upgrade from steel to alloy, you'll need to upgrade the fittings as well.

hi m8 you can fit alloy wishbones to your classic /make sure if buying second hand that you get the metal cone collar x2 that u need to take up the area between the alloy w/bone and the balljoint .the balljoints are the same on both sti and classic suggestion /when changing the w/bones fit the whiteline roll centre adjustment kit kca 313 ,gives 2 balljoints and 2 track rod ends this mod works well and cures bump steer then fit anti lift kit also .if you req any more info get in touch geo

Thanks for all your answers guys. Also I been advised by Curtis @ PowerStation that most of the WRXs did have alloy wishbones while the uk2000 turbos were fitted with steel wishbones.
I have been looking to replace my worn droplinks with another set of standard ones but its been a mission to find ones without going to a subaru main dealer as most stockists have only have the plastic droplinks for the steel arms and mine are the alloy arms.
