Default What top mounts should I fit?

I am about to fit KYB AGX adjustable struts and P1 springs to my UK MY99 Classic, to be used for road and occasional track day.
Do I need to beef up the top mounts? I gather STi's come with stiffer mounts, are they available?
Would adjustable (pillow ball) top mounts be over the top and would they fit OE type struts?

If you are serious, I would get the solid top mounts.
A really nice design is the very new Whiteline top mount.
You can get tons of caster and the right camber too.

Have a look on here - SubaruWRXparts.com: 97-01 RS/L/OBS Suspension/Handling Group N top mounts front and rear for $250 US (£128) and they do a lot other good stuff, a 4 pot seal kit both sides for $25, which I've seen for £20 a side in the UK.

I run the Noltec Clubsport topmounts on mine, that adjust both camber and castor, my geometry is also setup by Zak @ Mocom Racing

Thanks for the responses guys.

Paul, very tempted by the US supplier at SubaruWRXparts.com: Quality OEM and aftermarket parts for your Subaru Impreza, Legacy, and Forester., are there any extras apart from shipping (e.g. customs, import)?

Anyone have any experience of the Group N top mounts, are they similar to the OE STi ones or stiffer? Road noise?

Neil,
It all depends if you are selected by Customs and the shipping agent for closer inspection. I don't think it will attract duty but you could have to pay for clearance, about £10-15, and vat @ 17.5 of the value of the goods and shipping. My reckoning about £185 if the shipping is £20 but this is only if you get caught and they could arrive for £150 for all four corners. The other mounts do look good but is that £199 a corner or pairs? If you do the front you’ll have to do the back so you’re looking at £400 for a bump ride.

It says somewhere that they are the hardest rubber allowed by the Group N regulations so they should be harder than the STI OE and noise and ride quality will suffer a bit but not as much as others.

I got some STi top mounts from Welcome to Racecomp Engineering.com, can't remember how much I paid in total (inc import tax). Took months to arrive though, as the first delivery got lost somewhere. A new set arrived in the end though.

Can't comment on the mounts, still yet to fit them (maybe next month, along with my new shocks and Eibach springs).

They also offer a fair few other top mounts, some of which look interesting

As Graham states, depends how serious you are.

For road use with occassional track use then use the STi versions

For serious track or competition use solid mounts, more road noise etc but no flexing. You can also play with the caster etc. Camber is best adjusted with camber bolts and on the rear adjustable lower arms.

Read Graham's posts, he may be old but he's a wealth of knowledge

I use () HKS topmounts, whiteline ALK & camber bolts on the front. On the rear I have WL adjustable lower arms. Bilstien coilovers all round

Mark is being kind, I'm about 2 x his age!

The NVH is not too bad on my car (no rubber anywhere in the suspension/subframes), wife thinks it's ok and she has a Yaris!
