Tyre Rubbing on Arch!
#1
Can anyone point me in the right direction, since having my geometry sorted, the rear near side tyre rubs on the rubber arch even more so when i am going round a right hand corner fast, or when I have people in the back, any ideas ?

Hardy,
What wheels are you running?
When I was running MIMS with an offset of ET45 and using 215/40R17 tyres, they use to catch on both of the rear arches depending on the bend!
Try:
1) Removing your rear wheel arch rubber lips
2) Double checking your tyre size (215/40R17 or 205/45R17 - MY93-00)
3) Running the 205/45R17 tyres next time, you are runnign the other.
4) Double checking the offset of the wheels (ET48-53 recommended)
5) To ensure that you are running correct tyre pressures
5) Changing your wheels

I have an MY97 with 17" P1 alloys with the 205/45zr17 P-Zero's. Standard suspension. No rubbing what so ever.
Perhaps you should take it back to where you had the geometry done and tell them the problem?
If the servicing goes ok tomorrow, I'm having Eibachs fitted which'll lower my car by about 20mm. I've been assured that even when this is done there should be no rubbing, afterall it not worth having it done it it did.

Same problem here. Rear tyres are rubbing the arches. Std 17" wheels - tried 205/45R17 and 215/40R17.
Standard Impreza GT rear springs are crap.
Replacing old worn shocks with Konis helped a bit - but only when driven alone - without any load in the back.
I wonder if Impreza 5d has stiffer springs?

Hardy, you say the wheels are off a P1, but are they P1 wheels? ET52, I think. You should have no problem with these.
Check the ET marked on the back of the spokes - you'll probably need to take a wheel off to see properly.
If the ET is 50 or higher, you should be okay and someone has done something daft with your geometry settings.
Richard.
