can anybody help with a good suspension set up.....uk 99
just put on a set of 18" wheels and would like to lower the ride hight
but do not want a harsh ride just lower! Any ideas. should i go for just
springs or fully adj set up??? Thanks

For a nice road car, a set of eibach's @ 20mm lower, a Whiteline rear antiroll bar and links on middle hole setting and a very good alignment (ie Powerstation) and the car will be really nice.

As ever, I'm going to agree with Graham, but with a caviat. Standard shocks are past their best at 40K. If you add a set of lowering springs (the Eibachs are excellent) expect the dampers to wear quite rapidly.

get some proflex babies on. I found them to be a nice ride - driving slower and very progressive and firm for the yeeehhaaa bits.

Oh thats on 18'' wheels too.

I've got a MY00 with 18s, Eibachs, 22mm rear ARB set in the centre position, solid droplinks, bumpsteer mod and Powerstation geometry.

I am very pleased with this set up but be aware that the Eibachs do not lower the car that much - 20mm at most.

My car has covered a little over 70k on its original shocks, 30k+ with the Eibachs. Even Powerstation agreed that there is nothing really wrong with them . . . . . . . yet.

Blimey Graham, That's the first time I've not heard you also reccomend the uprated front ARB!

Have you changed you mind about it or are you just trying to save peeps a bit of money!

That is not 'quite' true, I've said that once before!
I just think for a road car where someone is looking for the Impreza chassis that they always thought it would be, a rear only will do the job.
As you push the car much harder then I still feel the matched set is right based on my road miles and the hard hill climbs where the limit (and the armco/trees) are but a ****-up away!

The cornering forces are much higher on the track than the road as you know nobody else is on the track so it's b@lls-out stuff.

For me it is 22mm front fixed and 22 rear middle hole!

Maybe one day on a private track day I'll put my stock front on and try it, but my chassis is just so good in my opinion/taste that i'm too scared to try another setting...
