Question eibachs

i've been thinking of getting some fitted to my MY00 wagon for a while but after searching this forum its seems lots of people have had to put up with noisy suspension afterwards...is this a common fault or can this be avoided by being super accurate when fitting them?

cheers,
ian

Hi The springs are not the problem, its people not mounting them incorrectly, I had mine fitted by a subaru dealer who managed to fit them wrong and then spent a week trying to resolve it.(failed misserably)
I eventually stripped the suspension myself and have no issues at all, that was about 18 mths ago.
Just make sure the hole on the spring cap runs parallel to the shock, facing out over.

compress the spring before fitting and make sure the top spring seat / cap locates over the shock centrally, if you don't do this then when you bollock up the top strut nut the cap is forced over the shock body and usually slices a little bit of metal out of the cap making the hole oval... and hence rattle.

also make sure you put the domed washer in up the right way or else you'll end up with it squeaking as you turn the wheel.

Evenin' Andy , another Eibach Q. {Apols for thread hijack!}

Fitted STi 4 struts and springs ( and STi top mounts ) to my MY94 wagon .. it sits a bit high now, would Eibachs help? Are spring rates OK for a wagon ( both eibachs and STi4 springs ) and would Eibachs be OK with the STi shocks?

Would this lower the wagon a bit? How much ( on 17's now ).

Ta matey boy!

Neil

PS - how's you car going Andy ??

eibachs lower the car about 30mm.

Spring rates are tuned to the type of shock absorber Sti shocks should have Sti springs etc...
It stands to reason that eibach have also tuned their springs to each different type of shock.
However, unless you're a driving god I don't think it'll make much difference.

Don't know how my car is going actually, it's been sat gathering dust in the garage for 3 odd weeks , nothing worong with it apart from lack of funds to put fuel in the tank.
I'm still paying off the race fuel !!! lol

Just had Eibachs (30mm) drop and Anti-lift kit fitted at Demon Tweeks the other week. Massive improvement, less roll, nose doesn't lift under power. Well worth mod, mentioned Scoobynet and got the lot supplied and fitted for £380. 8D

Trails - correct fitting of the plastic sleeves provided with them should counter any knocking
