What will i pay for Eibachs?
Does anybody know what i will pay for :
a) Eibach springs delivered to my door
b) Eibach springs supplied and fitted
c) Fit only Eibach springs
It's a MY02 Bugeye but dont think that makes a difference does it?

That seems high, maybe not. I would of hoped for around £150.00 for Eibachs and say two hours labour £90.00 so £240.00 all in.
I know Sonic had a few probs when his were fitted but i wonder how easy is it to do it yourself down the drive with just a car jack

Seem to be £170 at most places, £180 delivered. I had TSL do mine this week, £90 to fit plus £123 for the geometry set up after. Took about 2 hours to do the springs, all in with a roadtest about a 3 hour job for one man. Considered fitting them myself (having fitted Eibachs on another car), but for £90 seemed best to leave it to the pro's especially as I wanted the geom set up after.

Prodrive springs are £195inc on the website for MY01-02 & 03
I recently asked my dealer for quote for fitting + geometry (MY03 WRX) and eventually got "about £200" and "£100 but you can prob get it cheaper". Subaru really should have menu pricing for fitting dealer supply accessories
So I bought Eibachs for about £170, fitted them myself and had geometry done for £47 inc upto 1.5 hours labour at Autotest in Norwich.
Superb VFM all round

To get a strut off its a couple of big nuts at the base of each strut and 3 small nuts at the top. I had trouble with one nut/bolt on the rear right. Access to the nut is obscured by the CV joint - so I couldn't get a socket on. Spanner was too short to get enough torque. So had to mess with extension tube over the spanner, WD40 etc ect until it gave. I came close to starting to round the nut. Chatting to the guy at Autotest - he bought an extra long spanner just for those nuts on Imprezas
Once the strut is off you need spring compressors and then undoing the top nut on the strut was the most difficult bit. Ideally you'd have a socket/ratchet with the hole through so you can hold the strut with an allen key while you undo the nut. I managed it with a socket held in a mole grip with allen key through ( and holding the strut/spring in a bench vice)
Replacing on the car was fine - just need a torque wrench to ensure everything is back as it should be.
On the MY03 none of the brake pipes needed disturbing at all - they're clipped to the strut and very easy to move without undoing the ends.
You need to remove the back seat to get to the rears (about 6 bolts total).
Took a few hours one evening to do the fronts - and couple of hours the following evening to do the rears (and no, I didnt use the car inbetween )
The top bolt on the front strus controls the camber (I think its the camber) so its important to note its position etc. I had my geometry done about 4 days after.
Car feels sooo much better since. Absolutely stable through the corners - but you can feel the new springs over speed bumps and pot holes. Took it to Le Mans and through tight autoroute slip roads it was an absolute joy. Gave much more confidence than the previous wallowy feel.
Overall very glad I did it - and wish I'd done it sooner.

I got the prodrive spring kit supplied but not fitted as part of the deal on my new WRX, still to fit them but I would rather have this kit than any other as it also comes with a very precise geometry sheet. To get at the top nut, you should really use a swan neck spanner, but can also use a buzz gun if you have access to one and although frowned upon, to stop the damper shaft from spinning, hold it with a pair of visegrips so far up the shaft that it will not damage the seal on compression of the strut whilst driving(ideally where the bump stop rubber sits).

I got mine done at power engineering, i supplied the springs (£150 from them) and they charged me £317 inc vat to fit and do geometry setup, 2 guys 3 hours, good job well done

I shall go the route of either
Prodrive Springs
or
Eibachs
I think these both probably lower the car by 20mm but is one stiffer than the other or are they very similar that its just a case of getting the best deal?

Don't know abot the Prodrives, but my 01 WRX dropped 35mm on the back, 20mm front with Eibachs. I am told the springs are something around 10% harder, which does not sound a lot, but you certainly feel it over speed bumps!

Too right.... trying to negotiate them down, but looks like I'll need to bite the bullet and smile, don't have much of an option until next renewal in 11 months and 2 weeks time!!....

Norwich Union Direct 'quoted me happy' gave me 5 years intro discount + another 5% for having other policies with them.. but clearly not an insurer who encourages mods!! I won't be doing anything more to the car this year and maybe try L & V next time round.

Tesco can be very accommodating but you need to dum down your description of the item coz they're a bit fick with mods
I wouldn't even think that replacement springs are a cost increase mod. If anything aren't they a safer product?

I guess they figure if it goes round corners quicker on the Eibachs It will do more damage when I poke a hole through the scenery!
