I'm a relatively new Scooby owner (Terzo 280), and have been reading through previous threads describing mods which will improve the handling of my car. Having just upgraded the ICE in my car, and with a 30k service looming, I might stretch to picking a 'single' (perhaps most effective?) mod, which will of course be followed by more mods... (I knew this would happen when I bought a Scooby). Anyway, the mods I have considered/read about have been:

1. Bump Steer mod
2. Anti-lift mod
3. Eibach srping kit
4. Prodive geometry alignment?
5. ARB mod

Ok, be gentle, which would be the best to do first? Anyone have a rough idea of costs? Would no's 3 & 4 be done together? I live in North Shropshire, and was wondering if anyone could suggest who to approach to discuss/execute these mods?

If it's a single mod then it's gotta be the Bump Steer Mod

Cool

Get the bumpsteer done makes a big difference , when this is being done Powerstation will set the geometry, so you won't need the Prodrive settings . I've no experience with 2 and 5 but the Eibach springs are worth getting if your dampers are ok .

FYI the ALK involves the alignment up front too...

Replacing springs means another alignment...

ARBs w/endlinks is the only one that does not require another one.

Cheers.

Being another new bloke, could someone explain what the bump steer mod is. I understand what bump steer is but not what the mod is for the scoob. I'm was looking at getting the Eibach springs from TSL so they will be doing the re-alignment at the same time.
Cheers

What about costs? I might be able to squeeze to two mods, depending on how much they cost. A rough idea would be fine.

Cool

I think the bumpsteer mod with the alignment is £100+vat , I bought some Eibachs for about £140 inc vat but had to have them fitted and the geometry reset . You are looking at £400-450 for these two mods if done together .
Bumpsteer is eliminated by shiming the rack but you have to have the equipment to measure the wheels to make sure they stay parrallel(sp?)

Thank Big Bear,
Looking at £350 for the Eibach's with fitting and geometry setting from TSL. Will ask Trouser about the bump steer mod at the same time (although he's probably reading this!!)
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback guys, no one commented about the anti-lift mod?. Is this worth having? Or would the upgraded eibach srpings with geometry aligned do the business? I guess what I'm basically asking is, does having the springs replaced/geometry setup negate having either/or both the bump steer & anti-lift mod. No point wasting money, after all, I could spend it on another mod...

Necro, you did ask for the best single mod. If you want the "best set" of simple effective mods then I would recommend what I've had done (but you do them all in one go)...:

Bump Steer Mod (includes properly setup Gemoetry)
Anti-Lift
Eibachs
(something like £600 @ Powerstation all in)

Forget the Prodrive settings, the Bump Steer Mod along with the Geom settings is better!!

Anti-Lift is great for increased grip powering out of bends and also improves road "feel" much more (you can feel what the tyres are doing more).

Eibachs, what can I say that hasn't already been said

Shimming the rack is sometimes the way to go.. but in our experience a good proportion of cars in can be given neutral handling and bumpsteer on alignment alone.

Shimming the rack is easy enough to do.. But we won't advise you to do it if the car doesn't require it!

Ask around. The people who have had a TSL geometry set up. They aren't getting bumpsteer and their rack's where the factory left it!

Cheers
