I have just got a set of Prodrive springs for my STI 7 and wondered if anyone has changed them themselves.

I have the tools to do the job but have not done this before on the scoob, any feedback would be great.

Arron,

Just got my springs too, so I will also be trying to fit them myself.

Any pointers gratefully received.

P.S. The springs are printed "Front" and "back", and should be fitted with the writing the right way up, tight coils at the top.

Watching Powerstation fit mine I wish you good luck!!! I have watched them fit plenty of springs and these were the first that needed a spring compressor to get the struts done up.

Matt,
I've got all the tools to do the job including spring comps but I might just get someone to do it so I don't get my hands dirty.

Changing springs isnt that hard....

You'll need obviously to take the struts off.

Put the bottom of the strut in a vice, not too tight just enough to hold it.

Compress springs using a spring compressor and a ratchet.

Airgun off the securing nut.

Take out spring.

Do the reverse with new springs.

I can change a single spring / shock in about 15 - 20 mins or so, its not that hard if you have the right tools etc.

Indeed it's not but as I don't have:

a) a garage
b) a ramp
c) a spring compressor
d) (optional I know but) air tools and most importantly
e) 4 wheel laser alignment system for doing the Geom right when I put it back together

For these reasons (and for not getting my hands dirty/knuckles skinned ()), I take it to Powerstation these days for any suspension work....

Matt

P.S. The springs ROCK!!

Cool

Brilliant,

Thanks TBMeech for the advice.
Wasn't sure if I could remove the strut without the springs exploding off. Makes it a lot easier if I can compress them on the bench.
