The front U Frame rotting on a Bugeye I see has been covered extensively on the forum and I am going to remove mine soon. However, what I cannot find is what anyone has replaced it with other than a direct replacement unit.

I want to take the opportunity to stiffen things up but cannot find an after market frame - is there one? Any recommendations?

I got a replacement from a breakers for my bugeye. I cleaned it and painted it and sprayed the inside with waxoil. I am not sure how running without one could affect the MOT or your insurance as it is part of the crash protection system and adds rigidity to the chassis.
