Changing bumpstops on KYB ultra SR's
Hi
Ive just bought a set of KYB ultra sr's for my hawkeye wrx wagon and im going to fit some prodrive lowering springs.
Can I undo the 14mm nut on the bottom of the shock and change the bumpstop in the same way as on the standard shock?
Are the sr's already designed to take a lowering spring and dont need the bumpstop changing?
The shocks are the inverted type with the bumpstop on the inside of the strut.
I dont want to buy a new set of shocks and then end up damaging them by taking them apart!
Thanks, Dan

Thanks, thats good to hear that they can be changed just like the standard shocks.
I phoned KYB UK and asked the technical department if I could change them and they said they wouldn't advise it as it would void my warranty.
If I was to leave the standard ultra sr items on instead of fitting the prodrive bumpstops would the car be riding on the bumpstops constantly instead of letting the shock do its job properly?
Ive got the Prodrive blue springs to fit, I know they dont lower the vehicle much but unsure of the exact drop.

If you put Prodrive springs on you really should use the Prodrive bumpstops as they are shorter than stock, not sure what length the KYB branded ones use but if you had a warranty claim, you could ahem, keep them safe just in case?

Front and rear? If so, could you confirm the part numbers?
I understand you can undo the lower nut fairly easily on new struts but you should compress them slightly to make sure the rod is well home in the grooved bit that stops it spinning. My only experience of this was on a pair of shocks that'd been on the car since 2005, which I had top open up with a grinder (I just wanted the bump stops out of them!).
