Hi,

is the Red Sti Manifold (£45) and upgrade over the bugeye WRX version? Whats the difference other than the colour? Is it a straight swap?

I always asumed they were better somehow, better flow perhaps? if someone on here can help out and answer it that would be grand!.
There must me some difference or the sti wouldnt go for more than the wrx.
as far as i am aware they are a straight swap m8.

ok just found this on an old forum m8..... 10bhp increase

In terms of dyno numbers, there is a minimal gain (maybe 10hp = 6~7kW - you'll be hard pressed to notice absolute +kW).
Most of the gain is in the unmeasurable form of stuff like throttle response.

Basically, there are TGV (Tumbler or Turbulence Generator Valves) between the manifold and the head. They consist of a butterfly valve which generates turbulence in the incoming air for better mixing and stuff when cold (better emissions). They're essentially there for emissions purposes, and like the air pump, only operate for a short period on initial/cold start, after which they go to fully open anyway.
Issue being that once open, whilst restriction is minimised, it's still a restriction.

Deletes can be had in 2 forms:
-OEM/JDM deletes (aka AVO deletes) - "TGVs" cast without any of the TGV hardware. Probably the best option in terms of ease and flow. Cost is the downside.
-DIY TGV (aka Grimmspeed deletes) - take your/spare set of TGVs and do to town with a die grinder, then plug up any holes (from the butterfly valve rod). I'll be doing this soon to a spare set currently on their way down to me.

Sorry mate, I may have got the wrong end of the stick while i was researching and looking for a manifold with tgv deletes. I read that the STI blob onwards have the manifolds with TGV deletes. As this came from a bug i thought it didnt have the deletes?

Sorry for all the questions and confussion.
