MY 96 WRX classic 406 Silver Standard
Rare oppertunity for a totally standard 96 WRX, in stunning condition. No rust, no scratches, no dents, and barely even a stone chip. Long MOT and taxed, drives great, boosts and pulls early and well.
A fantastic example of an early unmolested classic...
showing 53K on the clock, but have little in the way of history to back this up other than how clean it is.
It might not be the cheapest out there and appreciate you can buy cheaper, but you get what you pay for, and it has a price to it, that I would sooner just keep it.
Car is based in Hastings, East Sussex.
SOLD

My insurance runs out on this soon, and want to ideally transfer it to my new car. So new price and bottom price is £1,500 no offers on this.
If if don't sell for this, I'll either dual insure it, or just mothball it for a rainy day.

Hi Rob,
I would be intrested, can you prove the mileage is original and any other issue or expense foreseen on the car? You can always PM me
Thanx for your reply

Sorry can't confirm mileage as I have no paperwork other than MOT and cambelt change. But you could probably get it confirmed by going onto the DVLA website and checking the MOT's which I believe record mileage history.
No known foreseen expense, other than perhaps some suspenion bushes and likely the roll bar bushes on the front, because when suspension is on full extend like going over a speed bump you can get a suspension creek from the front sometimes. Normally driving and lumps and bumps is fine, so being pretty pedantic really. But would be something I would sort myself in the spring if I were to keep it.

Hi Rob,
Thank you for your answer. Well it is a dilemma, since a bad past experience, I have always promised to myself only to buy with history book…
I'll get you informed

Hi, Looking at the V5 looks like it was imported from new and Feb 1996 5 former keepers. So there is probably history somewhere, but not something thats really bothered me, I tend to go with my instinct and know this ia good'n.
Edit. looked at V5 again and it was imported 7th June 2007.
Cheers mate, Good classic are only going up in value now so will see how things go. I know i couldn't replace this for £1500 if I wanted to, so fairly relaxed about the sale.

The great thing about these cars which always bring me back to one, is how cheap they are to fix and maintain. There are so many specialist breakers, parts are cheaper to buy than an escort, and TBH they rarely go wrong when they haven't be mucked about with, adding bolt on bits that have not been done right or car not mapped appropriately..
I'd done the modified thing a few times, and having owned and driven this there really is allot to be said for leaving alone and as it was always intended

Hi Rob,
I'm really interested in this after a mate has just pointed it out tonight, you mentioned the Cambelt above how long ago was this done? Anything for the water pump or oil pump at the same time?
Next question how hard is it to get to Hastings from London as I would have to get the train down on Friday or Saturday if you were available either of those days? Maybe Friday as train might be cheaper?
Does it still have tax and mot? Obviously I would have to insure it to drive it home.
Regards
Mick

trains run all the way into hasrings from london. takes 1 hour 20 mins. Nearest train stop to me is battle station. Friday is possible although Saturday would be more convenient if you did want to come.
speedo in mph, and factory fitted alarm.
drop us a pm if your still interested.

Its stuck at 52,999 miles, and noticed this a few days ago. Being an import clocks tend to get changed when they come into the country, and with lack of history TBH, I couldn't say how many miles the car has. I can only go on what I see which is a very clean car, both inside, out and under the bonnet, and feels pretty tight. As with any import unless you have the jap history, the mileage could be anything and you need to trust your instinct and take a punt TBH.
Its a very clean good honest car, and TBH I know I couldn't replace it for the money if I wanted to, and I'm now getting very close to just mothballing it for a rainy day in case its replacement breaks on me....

I bought it with 52,700 miles from a private dealer October last year. All I have is the purchase receipt from this dealer, stating cambelt change, oil and filter all within the purchase receipt, and have the MOT and V5 thats it in terms of paperwork. I don't know if tensioners were done as well, but generally come as a kit so suspect they were.

Don't wish to sound off or complacent about money, but it's throw away money to me. And if it went bang in a big way I'd sell it to one of the various breakers for a few quid, walk away and think nothing of it.
That said although its a performance car and everything that comes with it, they are also by far the cheapest performance car to keep on the road with an abundance of cheap parts available.....
No gurantees I'm affraid, but honestly doubt you will do better for the money.

No probs, I'm being really finicky about the bushes, the last few days I've noticed no creaking at all. MOT was done when I got it, I can't see any spend needing on it. But don't forget it is a group 20 turbo charged performance car, so not really a car to be considered if you on a really tight budget.

I think a test drive would put my mind at ease maybe... are you free any mornings as train ticks are £50 return but late morning onwards is over £120.

yeah i agree, i guess just because of the uncertainty of the mileage it makes me a little unsure, but to be fair the engine looks like new and i could buy ANY car and two weeks later watch it go bang!
