Alright folks

Recently bought a carbon sti6 spoiler from jayallen on here but unsure on how best to fit it?

I know best would be to stickaflex across the centre section but I would like to be able to revert back to the standard look at the right time without having to replace the boot lid

So what are my options?

Was thinking of securing either end with the normal bolts and then using silicone across the centre as this can be removed, even though it's a bitch to get off. where as stickaflex would be unmovable

Any good ideas appreciated

Decent quality doubled sided tape is your friend here winston
Easily removed when needed but holds very well also

 

Really? Never crossed my mind... Any specific recommendations? Careful not to advertise anything though

What would you use around the boot lid holes to prevent water leaking into the boot, last thing I want after being down that road with my old car

 

3M or wurth are very good,I used it on mine for 2 years with no problems and the spoiler came off with ease when I sold it 2 weeks ago.

I simply put some silli gasket on the bolt thread before I put them in and it seals the hole a treat with no leaks in 2 years also.

Sealed it from the underside? Now why didn't I think of that... Always tried to prevent it coming through from the top? Or am I getting my wires crossed? LoL if you think it's safer maybe PM me in future?

No need to go mad with it either,just a line front and back across the centre section between the holes.
It also acts as an anti chaving pad[stops paint rubs and rusting]

 

Ok cool so 2 meters would probably be enough? 1mm thick enough to make decent contact?

Oh and what's silli gasket?

 

2 metres is plenty,1mm is fine if the spoiler is good quality and fits nice but 2mm if there is a bigger gap which most after market spoiler have tbho.

Silli gasket is simply silicone sealent which doesn't go off stupidly like say windscreen bonder.

Tbho it's hard to tell unless you can see up close the fitment between the spoiler and tailgate but I might have both waiting when ready to fit and it doesn't matter then

As best I can tell it looks good nearer the outside but a little high in the centre so I'd go 2mm to be safe Winston

To seal round bolt and wiring holes. Plus a nice wiggle across the centre.

I was always taught with my caravan to apply sealant so that the water forces it further INTO the joint, rather than out of it.

In this case, I would apply sealant from the top of the bootlid and seat the spoiler in it.
