Default Bye bye Roof spoiler....

After a few short weeks of wearing a carbon roof spoiler from JMCarbon the car decided to part with it last night on the M62! fortunatly it was at 2am so there was nothing behind me as it flew off and exploded into a pile of shrapnel...

The 3M adhesive pads the affix with must have been defective as they have seperated leaving the adhesive and lumps of foam attached to the car.

Advice to all..... regardless of what your told, bolt them on!

I believe, may be wrong that the pads are to be used alongside the bolts. If just adhesive needed to be tiger seal or similar. Bloody unlucky though! Il be getting one at some point but will be bonded to inch of its life!

The 3m branded pads are supposed to be good for 20lb in weight and a lot of forums advise they are sufficient without the bolts. The problem was with the pad as the adhesive has stayed intact with the body, it's the foam membrane that has come apart. It's not a dig at James and his products just a warning to others that things can go wrong and some how making light of the fact i now have no roof spoiler and a lovely big scratch down the rear pillar and on my boot spoiler

Hi shane, sorry to hear about this but just want to clear up that we have never stated to stick it on just with the pads.
These pads should only be used in conjuction with the bolts.
If not bolting on,only an industrial strength adhesive such as tigerseal should be used.

Just to confirm the above post, I don't point any blame towards James, even if he had said to use the pads, they were defective and wouldn't be at all to blame

Bad news mate, if it makes you feel any better just go on the MLR and see how many Evos have lost their after market Vortex generators that they have stuck on.

Sikoflex or Tigerseal would have stuck it better.

Nightmare to hear about the incident, i have just bought one and awaiting delivery, i was told it was a direct bolt on replacement? mmm no holes om y 2003 Blob WRX so i am guessing it was STi only? Have you got a template for fitting it as it looks like you will need to drill holes as well?

All, my fitting guide is available to show you how to measure and drill your holes. this works on all Newage saloons and allows you to bolt the O.E. spoilers on. It does NOT work on one piece Carbon units but providing they have the holes in the same place as O.E. (James- please confirm) then at least the holes positions will be correct.

mark.
