We had this conversation crop up in a thread recently. Someone actually contacted the DVLA about it and they advised that you DO need to notify them if the vehicle is wrapped, as the primary colour of the vehicle has changed.

It does need changing mate, As mentioned above the colour showing on the logbook needs to be the primary colour of the car, ie the most prominent colour visible, whether its painted, wrapped. If the car is wrapped then the colour of the wrap needs on be on the logbook. If the wrap gets removed the logbook would need to be updated again.

eg. You're being followed by some traffic officers in your car. It used to be blue but you've had it wrapped in black vinyl. They run a vehicle check on your reg and it comes back as a blue car when obviously it is now black. They WILL pull you.......
