Default FITTING A SCOOP

Hi all.

I'm thinking of putting a standard wrx scoop on my standard 2.0gx impreza ( it already has 17's spolier and skirts, so basically looks the part!).

Until i can afford a proper wrx this will have to do ( and doing it vey nicely). However if i fit a scoop do you think this will effect the cars wind nise/dynamics etc? Also will the wind drag be noticeable considering this is a normal 2 litre impreza?

Hi mate I have a genuine STI bonent fitted to my Bugeye GX 2.0, it is far easier, and possibly cheaper than just sticking on a scoop to your original bonnet or even cutting a hole. It also looks the part and in no way "bodged".

Check out eBay and breakers for a turbo bonnet, I paid around £100 and it's litterally 2 bolts to swap them over.

As far as dynamics etc are concerned, there is no difference whatsoever, I've been running mine for 2 years and the only "side effects" you get are a bit of dust on the airbox cover

Would be better getting a whole new bonnet.
Each to their own I guess. I wouldn't badge my car as an STI even though it's more powerful than a standard one etc.
It's your car to do what you want.
Just enjoy it

Good bit of advice mate, didnt think about that. Only thing is wouldnt I have to paint the entire bonnet and possibly surrounding areas to make them blend in?

Its not a question about badging it as an STI etc. I just love the awesome looks of the full blown scoobies with the spoilers, scoops, bigger alloys etc. Not really interested in the 0 to 60 in a blink of eye. Perfomance wise i'm more than content with my 2.0gx, as is my wallet and the OH . OFcourse thats not to say that if finance etc permitted,I would'nt buy a STI. Heck if my 6 numbers come in i'd have everything from a Ferrari to a Rolls.........

Barlos, Tom87's sport is a very nice example.
Deffo get a turbo bonnett and get it sprayed to match mate, it wont cost that much
(£100 ish)

do NOT just put a scoop on your bonnett, it will look crap and tacky

glue it on or blue tack LOL

but in all honestly just do it with a couple of self tapping screws, as you dont need the hole if its just for looks.or if you really want the holes you could drill two 75mm holes side by side,at least that way the air will have somewhere to go
