Default VORTEX GENERATOR

Can't decide to whether or not to get a vortex generator for my 05 STi.Want it to look like it belongs on the car-not just a piece of plastic stuck on.If i get one, should it be Carbon Fibre, sprayed body colour or sprayed gunmetal to match my alloys.Would appreciate to hear from anyone who has one or anyone with an opinion.

I've never had any issues with mine fitted, both held on well. Mine coloured coded black so blends in better.

I like these as well, they look pretty good with the roof spoiler.

Default Vortex generator

Big thankyou for the comments from you guys, but my only concern is to enhance the look of my car-although i know of the aerodynamic benefits as well.My local bodyshop has experience in fitting them so it is just a case of sprayed to body colour or gunmetal to match alloys.I would probably prefer the latter to be different. I thought it would be a nice enhancement to my car. Until it came off

Since then, my rear diffuser also cracked and a piece came off. I now vow not to put any stick on parts on the car, and spend my money on power / handling mods.

Driving down the motorway to the WRC. As the car stands still most of the time I think water had started to perish the adhesive.

Was it fibreglass or abs plastic. The one i looked at from Scoobyworld is abs plastic, which i assume should be pretty tough as my front STi splitter is made from the same stuff.

It wasn't pulled off. It was stuck on with foam trim adhesive, it was fitted in a oven by a dealer panel beater. He did say that it would never come off!!

Don't use the double sided tape supplied as it will come off, bond the vortex generator with tiger seal. As once set you shouldn't have any problems with water ingress.

Mine came off Today. Just as I was entering the M25 and giving it the beans up the slipway onto the Motorway I heard a nasty bang!!!
Looked in the Mirror to see it flying through the air and luckily coming down on the bit on road between the slip road and motorway.
I had to get of the Motorway at the next Junction and go back round to were it came of to see what's left.
By the time I got to it, it had been blown onto the motorway and driven over a few times and was in bits.
I fixed mine on with Clear silicon but on hindsight I should have used Mirror adhesive and sealed between the spoiler and roof with Black mastic so no air or water can get through. NEVER use the supplied foam Tape as it simply does not work and breaks down when wet.
I will be getting another one as I have a blemish on the part of the roof were the vortex goes and was the other reason for getting one in the first place as its cheaper than having the roof painted.
Will be fixing it on how I know now how too
Just wont buy an expensive one

Regards
Ian
