I've recently bought a bugeye STI grille, but as my motor isn't an STI I want to remove the badge on the side of the mesh.
It's sort of pop riveted to a back plate. I wondered if anyone had done this before and could give me some tips on the best way to get it off without doing any damage.

im want to change my grill badge- ive read you can use a hairdryer and a length of cotton?

tried that with my boot badges, but the cotton didn't last long. i ended up using the hairdrier to heat the badges (and therefore the sticky stuff behind them) enough for me to prise them off with my fingers.

try fishing line instead of cotton - that's probably a better (and stronger) option

for the sti badge on the grille - can't you snip the rivets on the back? a pic may help

i saw on another thread in "styling", which you've probably seen by now, dental floss instead of cotton - wish i'd thought of that at the time as removing all the badges from the boot would have been a lot quicker!!

Debadged my old Pug 405 (i was young) and used a hair dryer.. used to much heat and melted the paint a little behind it.. since then i have used boiling water pored downthe back of the badge to the same effect

This is the badge I mean. Cheers for the reply. I'll have to try something like that. I reckon snips or a junior hacksaw should do the trick.
