How do you install splash guards and spats?

just the double sided foam tape from motor factors does the job - mine have been on for ages with just that.

My splashguards came with screws to, but what's the best way to get the popper on the front of the skirt out, without breaking them. I tried prising it out with a screwdriver, but it just won't come out?
